Deed for Windows Phone is now available

Hello folks, this is my first blog post. So, it won’t be developers oriented 😉

I would like to announce Deed for Windows Phone (iOS and Android are coming soon :))!!! The application is officially live in the Windows Phone Store.

For those who are not familiar with Deed, this is a pretty awesome and interesting platform. Basically, it is an online playground for real life challenges. You can create, send and complete challenges or dare your friends to. For example, you can go and take the Stair Climbing Challenge, which is one of the most difficult challenges, especially if you live on the 11th floor :).

So few words about the mobile application itself. The application is developed entirely on Silverlight. We had some plans for developing a hybrid application, ultimately we decided to use pure .NET. Generally, the application communicates with the Deed API through HTTP Requests. But enough technical details for now. I am planning to release series of blog posts targeting concrete problems I have met during the development of the application, as well as more general thoughts about the structure/framework of the project.

About the functionality: The application allows you to do almost everything you can do with the web site. The main features are:

  • Landing page showing the latest updates, profile info, received, posted and sent challenges.
  • Create new challenges.
  • Take, comment and complete challenges.
  • Search for challenges.
  • Send challenges to friend.
  • Login with facebook.
  • And many others.

For those of you guys with windows phones. I would be very grateful if you go ahead, take a look at the application and share your feedback. I know it is not perfect and there are many many points for improvements, though it is only version 1.0.
